Course Description

Dramatic Arts Senior examines leadership in applying theory and developing innovative practice of drama in grades 11 and 12. The course explores designing and delivering student-centered drama programs which focus on personal development, societal awareness and artistic expression, enhancement of teaching skills and development of innovative, consultative processes among drama teachers.

Prerequisites

1. Certificate of Qualification:
Must be a registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers.

2. Post-Secondary Education:

Must hold an acceptable post-secondary degree or equivalent qualifications.

3. 2 Full University Degree Credits in the Subject:
Official transcript(s) showing proof of successful completion of a minimum of 2.0 university degree credits in Drama or Theatre (some English credits may be considered).

OR

Intermediate Basic Qualification in Dramatic Arts in lieu of 2.0 university degree credits.

Note: Relevant experience will no longer be accepted.

PLEASE NOTE:

1.0 university degree credits is the equivalent to 1 full year course, or, 2 half-year courses.

Recommendations

Successful completion is a final grade of C-

Upon successful completion of the course, a recommendation will be sent to the Ontario College of Teachers.

Online - Synchronous & Asynchronous

This session will run intensely for 3 weeks. Your learning will take the form of in-depth online discussions as well as group and individual assignments. Learners will be expected to engage in approximately 42 hours of learning per week for a total of 125 hours:

  • 40 hours online synchronous learning (video conferencing & activities) - click "View Details" next to 'Schedule & Location' to view the meeting schedule
  • 60 hours online asynchronous learning (readings, activities, discussion boards)
  • 25 hours assignments and independent study

Requests for withdrawal received by the registration deadline will receive a refund.
