Course Description

The Junior Basic (Administrator version) ABQ will benefit teachers of all divisions considering any leadership role in education. This engaging course helps a teacher to reconsider and reframe current ideas and classroom practice. Via case studies, links to carefully curated articles, blogs, videos and websites, participation in small group discussion boards and individual relevant and useful tasks, a reflective practitioner will gain insight into junior students, teachers, administrators and effective schools. This course also highlights contemporary educational issues. In a supportive online environment, participants can interact with inspiring colleagues from around the world. This course is fun, challenging and stimulating. It is excellent professional development for anyone wishing to learn new teaching and learning skills that apply across ages and grades. You will discover passions for education you didn't know you had.

Prerequisites

Certificate of Qualification:
Must be a registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers.

Post-Secondary Education:
Must hold an acceptable post-secondary degree or equivalent qualifications.

 

Recommendations

Successful completion is a final grade of C-

Upon successful completion of the course, a recommendation will be sent to the Ontario College of Teachers.

Learners will be expected to engage in approximately 25 hours of learning per week for a total of 125 hours:

  • 100 hours online learning (asynchronous, but facilitator-led and paced into modules)
  • 25 hours assignments and independent study
