Course Description
Gain a foundational understanding of the role and philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme in this six week, 100% online Introductory Course. You’ll practice the IB inquiry cycle (Inquire-Act-Reflect) as you progress through each module.

Prerequisites:
Bachelor's Degree
showing 8 half credits (or international equivalent) in your chosen specialization (See IB Diploma Programme specialization options)*
If the language of instruction for your Bachelor’s degree was not English, you must provide proof of an IELTS English proficiency test with a minimum score of 6.5 in all components (or equivalent).

AND
Recognized teaching degree (IB experience is not required)
Successful completion of a recognized teaching qualification from any jurisdiction in the world.
3 years teaching experience
In a public or private secondary school. This must be confirmed by a letter(s) from your employer(s).
Kelly Longmore is an IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) teacher of Language and Literature and Language Acquisition (ESL) who has over 14 years of experience in education. She is currently on leave from an independent IB World School in Toronto where she was the ESL and International Languages Coordinator. She is presently the head of the English department at an IB World School in Nassau, Bahamas. Kelly’s international teaching experiences have taken her to South Korea, the United Kingdom, Canada and now the Caribbean. Kelly holds a B.A. from the University of Guelph, a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning from Christchurch College of Education in New Zealand, and a M.Ed from York University, Toronto. In addition to being a registered teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), her involvement in the IB includes MYP Building Quality Curriculum Senior Reviewer, workshop leader, site visitor, DP examiner, and teacher-support resource developer.
