Course Description
In this six week online course, you’ll examine how the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum design process upholds the IB Mission and philosophy within the K-12 international education context. You’ll have the opportunity to continue to practice the IB inquiry cycle (Inquire-Act-Reflect) as you learn how to design and plan effective learning in an IB programme based on learning theories, effective strategies and learning styles.

Course Outline |
Julie Wood is an IB Diploma Programme teacher in the Language and Literature department at Glenforest Secondary School in Mississauga and also is an instructor for IB Psychology, Theory of Knowledge, and Global Politics. In addition to teaching in the IB world, Julie led her school through Authorization of the Middle Years Programme as the Coordinator in 2016 and continues to run workshops on the Approaches to Teaching and Learning across the IB Continuum. She holds a B.A in Sociology and Women’s Studies from McGill University as well as having completed course work for her M.A. in Sociology of Education and Gender Studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. She is a registered teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) and recently completed a specialist in Global Studies and Leadership. In addition to her IB subject training, Julie holds many certificates from the International Baccalaureate including those dedicated to developing International Mindedness, The ATLs and Affective Learning in the classroom. Julie is a registered IBEC Examiner for Theory of Knowledge and Language and Literature and is a qualified workshop leader for Teacher Training in the IB.
Meagan Enticknap-Smith is the Deputy Head of Middle/Senior School at Elmwood School in Ottawa, Canada. Meagan has worked in schools in four different countries with over 30 years of experience in education. For the last ten years Meagan has been very involved in areas of curriculum development, innovative learning and teaching and professional development for teachers. As a lead educator with the International Baccalaureate, Meagan also supports schools, leaders and teachers to explore and bring the IB program to their community. Meagan greatly values the opportunity to learn alongside others as part of the OISE CPL community. Meagan holds an Honours Bachelor degree in Psychology from Queen’s University and a Masters of Education from the University of British Columbia (UBC).
