Course Description

This course gives you the foundation you need to design high-quality, inclusive learning experiences for adults. You'll learn how adults learn, how to understand what an organization needs, and how to design learning that supports both individual and team growth.

You'll work with well-known frameworks - such as ADDIE, Human-Centered Design, UDL, and the Kirkpatrick Model - and learn how to choose the right approach for the situation. Through case studies and hands-on activities, you'll design learning solutions that are practical, clear, and grounded in real workplace needs.

Course Format

This course is fully online and asynchronous. You'll have a maximum of 3 months to complete the interactive course materials and assignments - all designed to help you build real-world teaching skills.

Program Progression

This is course 1 of 3 in the Foundations of Workplace Learning and Development certificate. You'll receive a digital Certificate of Completion once all courses are successfully completed.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply key adult learning theories to workplace learning situations.
  • Understand an organization's goals and performance needs to guide your design decisions.
  • Use multiple frameworks (ADDIE, HCD, UDL, Kirkpatrick) to evaluate and design learning.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop effective, inclusive learning experiences.
