Course Description
The Senior ABQ Mathematics course focuses on the Ontario senior mathematics curriculum and pedagogical practices of senior mathematics (Grades 11-12). Share and demonstrate your knowledge of the senior mathematics curriculum expectations. Individually, and in groups, you will also explore, create, and participate in learning activities and discussions related to new trends in alternative instructional and assessment practices. Connections will be made to how these practices will meet the characteristics and needs of adolescent learners.
Your enrollment in this ABQ comes with access to the Ontario Association for Mathematics Education (OAME) resources. Through this platform, you will have access to:
- The issues of the Ontario Mathematics Gazette
- Classroom resources
- Free presentations, including all the past ones archived on the site
- chatOAME, an AI tool for planning mathematics lessons
Login information and access to the OAME platform will be provided once you begin your Math ABQ course and will expire once you complete your Math ABQ course.
Prerequisites
- Certificate of Qualification:
Must be a registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers. -
Post-Secondary Education:
Must hold an acceptable post-secondary degree or equivalent qualifications.

3 Full University Degree Credits in the Subject:
Official transcript(s) showing proof of successful completion of 3.0 university degree credits in Math and Statistics.Note: At least 2.0 credits should be a MATH coded course (examples include calculus and algebra).
1.0 university degree credits is the equivalent to 1 full year course, or, 2 half-year courses.
Recommendations
Successful completion is a final grade of C-Upon successful completion of the course, a recommendation will be sent to the Ontario College of Teachers.
